Tisdale & District Strings

Tisdale and District Strings is a group of energetic children, young people and adults studying violin, viola, cello, string bass, and fiddle. Many of the students also study piano, voice, winds and dance.

Throughout the year students perform as soloists and in smaller groups (Duets, Trios, String Quartet, etc.)  Students also perform and rehearse as a group for many community events. Students enjoy performing at local events such as the Nipawin Fiddle Competition, Doghide River Festival, Melfort Carol Festival, Nipawin Fiddle Competition, Cancer Walk for Life, Melfort Gospel Jamboree, Tisdale and District Strings Christmas Concert, etc. Their repertoire includes many styles: folk music and fiddling, gospel and classical music.

Tisdale & District Strings is open to anyone who would like to play violin, viola, cello and fiddle. There is a beginner Suzuki violin and cello program for students of all ages - currently ages 3 to adult are beginning study - including preschoolers, teenagers and seniors. There is a program for intermediate and advancing violinists of all
ages. We have weekly private lessons, plus recitals, group rehearsals and opportunities for students of all levels to perform.  Private lessons are currently available in Tisdale, Star City, Zenon Park, Porcupine Plain and Melfort.

Members of Tisdale and District Strings have won awards at Saskatchewan Music Festivals, Fiddle Competitions and from the Royal Conservatory of Music and Conservatory Canada for receiving the highest marks in the province of Saskatchewan in music examinations.
